Ingredients

Scale

Base Ingredients

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or preferred cheese)
  • 1 packet ranch seasoning mix
  • 1/2 cup sour cream (optional, for extra creaminess)
  • 2 cups shredded cooked chicken

Toppings & Garnishes

  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (for topping)
  • 2 tbsp chopped green onions

Instructions

1. Prepare the Chicken :

  • If using rotisserie chicken, remove the skin and shred the meat with two forks.
  • If using boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cook them in boiling water or broth for 15-20 minutes until fully cooked, then shred.
  • If using canned chicken, drain and shred it before adding it to the mixture.

2. Mix the Ingredients:

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, ranch seasoning mix, sour cream (if using), and shredded chicken.
  • Stir until well combined.

3. Choose Your Cooking Method

3.1. Oven Method (For a Golden, Bubbly Finish)

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish.
  • Sprinkle 1/2 cup of shredded cheddar on top.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Remove from oven and top with chopped green onions before serving.

3.2. Slow Cooker Method (For Parties & Gatherings)

  • Add the mixed ingredients to a slow cooker.
  • Cover and cook on low for 2-3 hours or on high for 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
  • Before serving, sprinkle extra shredded cheese on top and let it melt.

3.3. Stovetop Method (Quick & Easy Option)

  • In a large non-stick skillet, heat the mixture over medium heat.
  • Stir continuously until cheese melts and everything is well combined.
  • Once heated through, transfer to a serving dish and garnish with green onions.

Notes

  • Make it Spicy: Add diced jalapeños or a dash of hot sauce for extra heat.
  • Best Dipping Options: Serve with tortilla chips, crackers, celery sticks, or toasted baguette slices.
  • Storage & Reheating: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in the microwave or oven until warmed through.

  • Make it Low-Carb: Skip the sour cream and use full-fat cream cheese for a keto-friendly version.
